About

The local National College "Vasile Alexandri" was built between 1888 and 1890. The place on which you can find it today was bought by the City Hall (the mayor being C. Ressu, the father of the painter Camil Ressu) from Mrs. Elpinica Hristudor Alexandri.

In front of the school you can find Vasile Alexandri's bust, made by the sculptor Gheorghe Terescenco using a photo of the poet from 1863. Near you can find on the left V.A. Urechia's bust, the founder of the public library from Galați, and on the right Ioan Cetățianu's bust, the first principal of this prestigious institution and professor here between 1876 and 1896.
